Learning Target:

Analyze the causes and consequences of the Greek wars (Trojan, Persia & Peloponnesian Wars)

Success Criteria-

Students will be able to:

• utilize multiple mediums of technology through Maker Space (Stikbots, Lego animation, green screen, iPads, Makey Makey, ….)
• collaborate within their group to create a historical project
• synthesize historical information and highlight important features, using the database World History in Context to research topic
• create a one minute video using Maker Space tools that includes a Works Cited segment
• present video to the class

Trojan War: (Greeks vs. Trojans)

• Paris kidnaps Helen (Aphrodite)= war begins
• Menelaus finding out his wife Helen has been stolen
• Achilles- baby, warrior, heel
• Trojan Horse- wheeling it in, soldiers sneak out, attack
• Homer writing the Iliad, Odyssey
• Greeks helped by Olympian gods= Zeus, Athena, Poseidon, Hera, Hephaistos, Hermes, Thetis

Persian War: (Greeks vs. Persians)

• Marathon (runner, Pheidippides)
• Thermopylae (300 Spartans)
• Salamis (naval battle)
• Plataea (Persia surrenders)

Peloponnesian War: (Athens vs. Sparta)

• Plague hits Athens (Pericles dies)
• Sparta sets up blockade
• Athens surrenders

1. Choose a topic (left hand column) and prepare for research.

2. Begin K-W-L Chart. Through this process, develop questions/problem statements you're looking to answer through your investigation.  

3. Locate and analyze two articles of your selected Greek War using the database World History (Gale in Context):

4. Synthesize information, using the Information Organizer sheet, to record your findings.

5. Copy and paste citations into citation tool, Easybib. Import your completed Works Cited to Google Drive and rename, Last Name_Greek War Citations. 

6. Develop a script to cover the essential components of your research (see sheet). Your movie will last between 30 sec.- 3 min, depending on choice of medium (digital tool).

7. Begin filming/ drawing/ photographing/ recording/ building.

8. Once project is complete, copy and past your correctly formatted Works Cited to your video project.

9. Finish KWL chart.

10. Submit video (with citations at the end of the video), K-W-L Chart, and Information Organizer sheet to Classroom.
